  • 2009 Joint series rules and Regs

Well an new exciting twist to this season is the integration of the FRX series and the two new car classes it brings in. So just to let people understand what is going on in Utah read carefully. The SCCA allows you to adjust car classing in your own region. But these classes or adjustments are ONLY in the region and NOT at a DIVISIONAL or National event. That being said. If you plan on competing at an SCCA Divisional or National event you will need to comply with one of thier classes and we would suggest you always race in accordance with that class as to develop your skills to that setup. Moving on.
The integration of the FRX series has given us two more classes. for the rules see; http://www.formularallyx.com/rules.shtml. The two new classes are Street Mod 2 and Street Mod 4. These classes are seperated on drivetrain 2wd or AWD. The class simply put means and mods are allowed (As long as it s still a production car and is safe) and you are running "street tires or ice/winter specific tires (designated by the mountain/snowflake symbol). Light truck tires (designated by “LT” on the sidewall) are not allowed, nor are tires designated for rally or competition use."
This is a great set of classes because it allows "tuned" cars to run without having to feel obligated to buy "rally" tires. We know the EVO's and STI's have to get small brake kits to allow rally tires so here's a fun class with no brake modifications required. I will have a thread going to help with questions on this new class system.

We will be running the run groups accoring to the SCCA Setup and so the Street Mods will race with the Rally Modified classes. BUt then the scores will be seperated into the classes you registered in.

These new classes open up a whole new field of options to bring friends into this sport. Just remember it's always about having fun. Speed will find you along the way!
